Arch of Augustus, on west side of Temple of Jupiter. c.1819 sketch by W. Gell.

On the left drawing:
Top notes: The black represents what is now to be found, the red the probabilities. The figure on the left is perhaps the most pleasing.
All the details possible to find.
Arch near the T. of Jupiter.
Sideways centre notes: There is a small piece of the blue pilastre of marble fluted thus[drawing] but of much less dimensions near. The whole was very thickly plastered.
Bottom notes: All the ornam. white marble.
From the holes and the small diam. I conclude the pilastres stopped there.
12 3/4 wide 5 flutes. 14 1/2 wide 6 flutes.

On the right drawing:
Arch. Joins. Pedestal.
